The Stamford Baffle 2.0™The Next Generation Density Current Baffle
Stamford Baffle 2.0 features a 30° inclination angle and a greater horizontal projection from the clarifier wall. The shallow angle increases the baffle to blanket distance and deflects the density currents on a more horizontal trajectory (without increasing solids buildup on the baffle), while the increased projection of the baffle intercepts a greater volume of solids rising toward the launder. Computer modeling shows that Stamford Baffle 2.0 is 30% to 50% more effective than the original Stamford Baffle. Actual measurements of total suspended solids (TSS) from a recent installation show that the model results are very conservative. Stamford Baffle 2.0 reduced effluent solids by nearly 80%!
The Dual Surface Baffle™The Dual Surface Baffle is wedge-shaped, with identical surfaces at the top and bottom. The upper surface is a Stamford Baffle 2.0, using the 30° inclination angle and the same algorithm to determine the baffle’s horizontal projection based on clarifier diameter. The lower surface is a mirror image of the upper and is inclined back to the clarifier wall. The configuration of the baffle allows the lower portion to be retrofitted to any existing NEFCO Stamford Baffle, upgrading it to the Dual Surface configuration.
Launder Cover SystemsNEFCO's patented* Launder Cover Systems have been designed specifically to inhibit the growth of algae on the launder trough and weir surfaces by blocking sunlight from striking those areas. Without sunlight, the algae is largely eliminated or reduced to a light film that is easily washed away with a hose. Constant cleaning by maintenance personnel is a thing of the past, as is the threat of operations or equipment problems caused by algae growth.
Weir and Scum BafflesWeirs and scum baffles are the ever-present nuts and bolts of the treatment plant, where the versatility and durability of fiberglass makes it the material of choice for this equipment.
FRP TroughsNEFCO offers complete Effluent Trough Systems that include weirs, scum baffles, drop boxes and stainless steel, galvanized steel or FRP trough supports, as well as one-of-a-kind troughs for unique treatment plant applications. Troughs may be square bottom, round bottom or V-bottom, and may include FRP or steel angle laminated into the trough sides or bottom as stiffeners. NEFCO’s trough laminate is 30% stronger than the typical 1/4” trough laminate because we build the reinforcement into every square foot of each trough section. Troughs are designed with corrosion-resistant and UV protected resins, woven roving, balsa and foam reinforcement, integrally molded stiffening flanges, PVC spacer rods, and slip joint or flange-by-flange connections. Flanges, end panels and critical areas are 150% thicker than normal. Troughs are engineered and fabricated to meet and exceed load requirements.
